Located in our backyard, the Cheboygan Crib Light may be smaller than most lighthouses, but it’s mighty. It stands at the mouth of the Cheboygan River that faces Lake Huron and was erected in 1884. This little Cheboygan lighthouse only stands 25 feet tall, and is easily accessible by pier after being moved from a floating crib platform back in 1984.
At Ludington State Park, you’ll find Big Sable Point Lighthouse. This lighthouse is 112 feet tall, black and white striped, and has been honored as the 2013 Featured Lighthouse of the Year for the Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival. Currently, the Sable Points Lighthouse Keepers Association is building funds to repair the lighthouse by selling engraved Trex boards that will be used in the new walkway. Take a tour today and help pave the way to this historical lighthouse.
